Proofreading and Copyediting
Someone once told us that
the "best" way to edit a paper
is to read it backwards.
To that we say, hogwash!
The best way to edit a paper
is to have a professional look at it--pure and simple.
Our "fresh eyes" coupled with our knowledge and expertise
will ensure that your paper is the quality product that it deserves to be.

Do you have something that has to look great?
We all want to put our best foot forward in everything we do, but certain documents demand a higher level of quality than others. Whether it is a dissertation, grant application, manuscript for publication, or a marketing brochure, an overlooked error can sabotage hours of hard work. Wise writers know the importance of consulting a professional editor for a thorough review prior to submission.
We are picky people...and proud of it!
We pride ourselves on extreme attention to detail--we edit manuscripts with a fine-toothed comb. Of course we correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation but we do more than that. We ensure that references are in the correct format, journal titles are spelled correctly, abbreviations are consistent throughout the paper and more. Professional publications have a myriad of details that must be addressed--and for whatever reason, these details often get overlooked. Let us help you make sure that this does not happen to your paper!
We are speedy, too.
We know that deadlines matter, so we do our best to get your paper back to you quickly. Although projects vary, we strive to return papers to authors in five business days or less. With a bit of advance warning and mutual negotiation, we will work to make sure our schedule meets the deadlines looming on your calendar.
Bottom line--what will this cost?
Every project is individually negotiated but in general, Maine Desk charges $50 per hour for proofreading and copyediting services. Prior to beginning a project, we will discuss the scope of work and estimated time for completion. Major variations in terms of time and effort will be discussed with the author. For ultra-rush jobs or extra-special projects,we charge $100 per hour...but never without first discussing it with you.
