About Us
Maine Desk was established in 2001 with a mission to assist both novice and experienced authors with their writing publishing efforts. Our motto is simple, "Writing is hard work. We make it easier." Our small size allows us to offer personal service to each and every one of our clients.
Staff
Leslie H. Nicoll, PhD, MBA, RN, BC is the Principal and Owner of Maine Desk LLC
Leslie has more than 30 years experience in nursing and healthcare and has worked in clinical practice, research, and academia. Prior to founding Maine Desk, she worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Muskie School of Public Service and Associate Research Professor, College of Nursing and Health Professions, University of Southern Maine. She has been the Editor-in-Chief of CIN: Computers, Informatics, Nursing since 1995 and The Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing since 2001. She is the author of more than 70 published professional articles, book chapters, and books, including The Nurse's Guide to the Internet. She was the founding editor of Perspectives on Nursing Theory, the fourth edition of which has recently been published. Most recently, in 2007, Leslie was a co-author of Contemporary Medical Surgical Nursing. Leslie is also a popular speaker at conferences and conventions and has spoken to regional, national, and international audiences.
Susan K. Shropshire is the Senior Editorial Associate for CIN and JHPN.
In addition to her editorial responsibilities, Susan provides general administrative assistance to Maine Desk clients. She has written news, feature articles, and reviews for a variety of publications. Susan has a background in public relations and desktop publishing and has wide ranging interests in health, science, and technical topics. Susan has been with CIN since 1998 and was key in the establishment of Maine Desk in 2001.
