JHPN: The Journal of Hospice and Palliative Nursing 
The journal is is designed as a forum for communication among nurses working hospice and palliative care. As a refereed journal, JHPN is a vehicle for the publication of relevant, high-quality, and timely articles on a variety of topics related to end-of-life and palliative care, in contemporary nursing practice, education, research, and administration. Articles in JHPN are selected to reflect the diversity of current and useful information for a broad audience of readers. JHPN is the official publication of the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA). JHPN is published six times per year by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins and indexed in CINAHL and the International Nursing Index.

Authors   
  • Well written, timely articles in the area of hospice and palliative care are always welcomed by the Editor-in-Chief. You can look at the table of contents of recent issues of the journal at www.jhpn.com 
  • JHPN publishes a variety of articles, including case studies, clinical reports, personal essays, reviews, and letters. This overview gives more information and detail. 
  • Queries to the Editor are a good way to determine if your topic is appropriate for the journal. Contact her directly at medesk@medesk.com 
  • JHPN uses an online submission process. You can access the site here. 
  • Information for authors provides specific guidelines for preparing your manuscript.  
  • A signed copyright transfer form must accompany each manuscript submission.  
  • JHPN uses AMA (not APA) format for references and citations. If you are not familiar with AMA, this brief memo gives a few highlights. More detailed information can be found in the AMA Manual of Style, 9th edition.

  • JHPN is a peer reviewed journal. Manuscript reviewers with expertise in end-of-life care in clinical practice, education, research, and administration are selected on an ongoing basis.
